WHAT KIND OF A SCHOOL IS BEACHWOOD?
Beachwood is an ICSE affiliated school that prepares children to be globally competent citizens – attempting to instill values of hard work, discipline and integrity. WHEN WAS IT ESTABLISHED?
The idea of Beachwood started taking shape in the year 2004 and the institution was affiliated to Council of Indian School of Secondary Education (CISCE), New Delhi in 2012.
IN WHAT WAY IS BEACHWOOD DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SCHOOLS?
At Beachwood the children are guided to become self-learners. A lot of emphasis is placed on promoting query-based education. Your child is encouraged to become inquirers and life-long learners.
WHAT ARE THE SPECIAL FEATURES OF BEACHWOOD?
Beachwood, in every possible way, focuses more on ‘learning’ rather than ‘teaching’. So, the emphasis at Beachwood is on developing amongst the students all the skills, aptitudes and attitudes required for the creative construction of their own knowledge through questioning, reading, presenting as opposed to the general practice in schools of merely programming into the child a certain body of information. The well-trained and committed staff, the innovative teaching methods adopted and the excellent infrastructure effectively facilitates this very special focus of the institution.
WHAT IS THE STUDENT STRENGTH IN EACH SECTION?
Each section has a maximum of 35 students.
HOW DOES BEACHWOOD ENSURE THAT ITS TEACHERS ARE EFFECTIVE?
The teachers of Beachwood, though they generally come from the regular conventional kind of schools, have to go through a rigorous process of recruitment that identifies people who have a strong base in the subjects of their choice, are creative and child-centered in their approach, desire change and are willing to learn. Before they start teaching, Beachwood teachers are made to go through in-house orientation programs regarding the philosophy and focus, the general systems and methodology, the evaluation system and the like. Thereafter, they go through several workshops and re-orientation programs throughout their tenure at Beachwood. Teachers are indeed an integral part of Beachwood family.

ACADEMICS

HOW ARE CHILDREN ASSESSED AND EVALUATED AT BEACHWOOD?
We use, in every level of the school, our very own evaluation system – starting with chapter tests for each of the chapters, mid-term exams and term-exams. This gives your child and you a detailed feedback on the learning progress of each unit of a subject.
WHAT IS THE TEACHER-STUDENT RATIO AT BEACHWOOD?
The teacher-student ratio at Beachwood is approximately 1:18 at present.
WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT BEACHWOOD IN CLASSES IX & X?
Each student after Class VIII has the following subject options:

WHAT KIND OF CAREER COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE DO STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO IN BEACHWOOD?
Sessions related to career choices are held to counsel children on their career options. Workshops are held to invite professionals to speak on different career options.

FACILITIES

DOES BEACHWOOD HAVE RESIDENTIAL FACILITY?
Yes. Beachwood has comfortable residences for Boys & Girls (separate) from Class I onwards. Hostels offer a range of experiences that are largely interplay between individual and group interactions leading an individual to become a “better-fit” in the society. It is expected that students staying in Beachwood School’s hostel would become more successful in life with multitude of accomplishments behind as they face challenges of life on an ongoing basis.
WHAT KIND OF LIBRARY FACILITIES IS AVAILABLE AT BEACHWOOD?
Beachwood has a huge library with a wide variety of over 2000 books, magazines, and periodicals that facilitate acquisition of knowledge in the most exciting manner.
WHAT KIND OF LABORATORIES DOES BEACHWOOD HAVE?
The state-of-the-art centre for computers, laboratories for teaching physics, chemistry and life sciences, containing requisite equipment and literature to make our children help children in construction of knowledge in every subject.
WHAT ARE THE CATERING FACILITIES AT BEACHWOOD?

Lunch is served at Beachwood in two spacious and very hygienically maintained dining halls for boarders. Beachwood ensures that children have a well balanced diet as stipulated by nutrition norms. We offer vegetarian food. We provide a varied menu incorporating North Indian, South Indian and Chinese cuisines. Students are also provided with a glass of milk once in the school day. Day Scholars can optionally take Breakfast after paying necessary charges.
ARE HEALTH CARE SERVICES AVAILABLE ON CAMPUS?

Though an in-campus infirmary is present, transport services are available to send children to modern state-of-the-art hospitals to take care of emergencies.
WHAT KIND OF PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT DOES BEACHWOOD PROVIDE?
We have designed a meaningful programme for physical development of each child. All the children compulsorily do PT in the morning. In addition, our children regularly take part in yoga and meditation, football, kho kho, basketball, athletics, kabaddi etc. In our own campus we have developed very good facilities for pursuing and excelling in a huge variety of outdoor as well as indoor games and sports. In addition we have a Children’s Kids Park that our tiny tots use for games and fun activities.
WHAT KIND OF FACILITIES DOES BEACHWOOD PROVIDE FOR CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES?

At Beachwood, we integrate a wide range of creative activities within our overall educational programme. We consider artistic and cultural activities to be very important with regard to the harmonious development of the total personality. Every child at Beachwood has to do vocal music, dance, art and craft as part of the regular timetable. Other activities like dramatics, creative writing, debating, elocution, quizzing and much more also form an essential part of education at Beachwood. While within the regular curriculum our children get a general exposure to such pursuits, we offer them specialized training in many of these areas in our hobby classes. We have Specialized Activity Rooms for Music, Dance, Yoga, Art and Craft that are equipped to provide our students with proper exposure to a variety of performing, visual, literary and folk arts to motivate their creativity, to help them pick up cultured pursuits and to aid them in their spiritual development.
WHAT KIND OF TOURS & EXCURSIONS ARE ORGANISED AT BEACHWOOD?
Beachwood encourages all the students to participate in excursions and tours. In past, excursions and tours have been organized for 1-3 days to destinations valued for their historical, historical, cultural and scientific significance. Students have visited places including Science Museum, Kolkata, Murshidabad, Bishnupur, Maithon Dam, Mukutmanipur, Burnpur Riverside, Deul, Rondiha, Bhalki Machan.
